The Maths of Shakespeare's London

Join author Rob Eastaway in MathsWorld London as he explores the mathematical ideas that were emerging in Shakespeare’s world.
This event takes place on Thursday 29th of January and is the very first of MathsWorld London's year long programme of monthly evening talks and events.
MathsWorld London sits a stone’s throw from Bankside, which was a hotspot for theatres, gambling and trade in Shakespeare’s time. In this fascinating historical talk, author Rob Eastaway explores the mathematical ideas that were emerging in Shakespeare’s world, from astronomy and probability to the number system itself.
Visitors will have the opportunity to arrive from 18.15 to explore the ground floor of MathsWorld before entry to the upstairs talk area opens at 18:50. The talk will begin at approximately 19.00 and last approximately 1 hour, allowing plenty of time to explore the centre afterwards before we close at 21:00.
